I've included a sample IconQuest game file, aptly named "Sample Game File", so that you can test your dexterity at IconQuest. Double-click on it, or open it from the File menu and try to complete it with the highest score.
My top score at it is 2330 with only 2 TeleSwaps, but I am sure some of you will beat that score.
The theoretical upper-bound for the score is 2900. That is only possible without undoing any moves, without TeleSwap, or even without performing simple moves (-10 points). As far as I can tell, though, the Sample Game File cannot be completed without simple moves.
If you get a really high score (nearing 2900), or if you can complete the Sample Game File in 1 (or no) TeleSwap, then please let me know.
Be careful not to overwrite the Sample Game File. If you need to save your game in progress, always use Save As (instead of Save, which will overwrite the original). Keep the original intact so that you may try over and over again at improving your top score. If you give a copy of IconQuest to friends, and PLEASE DO, always give them the original Sample Game File too.
If you can't beat my top score, then perhaps you can try your hand at completing the Sample Game File in the shortest time! I solved it in 1 minute, 17 seconds. Really! But my score was only 1060, and I made 9 TeleSwaps.
How well are you doing with the Sample Game File...
Score of 1700 or less: Keep trying. You are either TeleSwapping too much, or you have undone many moves.
1700 to 1950: OK.
2000 to 2280: You're doing really well.
Above 2280: Excellent! You qualify for membership in I.Q.P.A. (IconQuest Players Anonymous)
Enjoy!

P.S. IconQuest 1.21 should run on any Mac, any System version, including System 7, and in 32-bit mode. But I haven’t tried it on the new Quadras.
Version 1.21 fixes a minor bug where keystrokes would go to IconQuest AND a DA (Desk Accessory) while under the Finder (not MultiFinder) with System 6.0.
